Time according to the dictionary is the succesion of events. The definition is arbitrary but what can you expect...i would just like to share my experiences regarding time in med school. 2 hours is just like 10 mins in med school if your are studying for an exam....a page of a hand-out can eat half an hour of your time. Or if you are taking a shifting exam...time will pass you by...usually a shifting exam has an allotted time of 2hrs for you to answer a 100-120 questions (true or false/multiple choice/morse type) i usually finish in about an hour or so but by the time i finish an hour doesnt feel like an hour...an hour can feel like 20 mins if your taking the exam. now let us go to the other side of the story on how time freezes. If your are in a middle of a 3-4hr lecture especially a biochem lecture..this is the time when you would feel the world freezes as the time pass you by so slowly that you will be lost in space but in this case you will be lost in time. During this period you have done all the things you need to do but the hands of the clock just wont budge a little bit faster. You can sleep in class for about 30 mins but it will feel like an hour. You can talk your heart/mind out to your seatmate and it will only kill about 15mins. You can draw or just scribble things in your paper but still that wouldnt help to speed the clock.
Finally, you will come to realize that time really pass you by if you are in med school. A school year doesnt feel like a school year for the tons of things you will need to read or do. And the world around you...the world outside keeps on revolving...with you feeling left out.
